HEMME BROTHERS CREAMERY

Drawing from a 20-year history of raising dairy cattle outside Sweet Springs, Mo., the Hemme family saw an opportunity to add value to the farm operation. In 2016, Hemme Brothers Creamery opened its doors and began making hand-crafted cheese that is rooted in goodness and family. This creamery starts with family, and this new endeavor was created as an avenue for the families to stay on the farm. All of the Hemme cheeses are made traditionally with milk from cows feeding on flavorful grasses, hay and grain from the family farm. The cows produce milk high in butterfat and protein, making it perfect for a rich, flavorful cheese. At Hemme Brothers, Farmstead goes further: crop to cream to curd. HOMEGROWN & HAPPY

Small-town girls rooted in the Midwest who grew up with home-cooked, farm-fresh meals are the creators of Homegrown & Happy. Their family backgrounds are diverse, and that diversity inspired a love of wholesome and interesting foods. When the chance to buy a small pickle company was presented, the ladies jumped in. Headquarters are located in Kansas City, with production taking place in Slater, Missouri, in what is lovingly referred to as the “pickle shack.” A great sense of pride stems from producing the product line in their hometown. Homegrown & Happy products can also be found in the online shop (www.homegrownandhappy.com). Some of the family recipes used are more than 100 years old and give consumers a chance to be food adventurous, too! As always, products are hand-packed to ensure the highest quality.

FLAVOR MARKET

Flavor Market is owned and operated by Jim and Ami Zumalt, organic farmers who wanted to bring to the community products featuring fresh, wholesome food made with ingredients produced by local farms. Their kitchen focuses on using available produce ‘seconds’ and over-abundance during harvest. The Zumalts create unique jams, jellies, pickled foods, meals, breads and desserts that are naturally gluten free, lower in sugars, paleo and keto-friendly, and contain minimal ingredients. Flavor Market goodies can be found at their own retail store in Holden, Mo., and at the Downtown Lee’s Summit Farmers’ Market and the Brookside Farmers’ Market.
